Hofner 456

This is the one that started it all!

November 1974, I became disillusioned with College, it just wasn’t what I wanted to do, so I dropped out. With the money I had left for that week I popped to the Trade In, Trafalgar Road, Portslade, and made the final payment on a guitar that was a step up from the Kay catalogue guitar I’d been learning on.

£21 I paid in all, £1 a week for a while, but quitting College meant I could complete the deal, and the Hofner came home with me.

It has had a hard life, lived without a case or bag for many years, it has lasted really well. Usual Hofner neck joint problem was fixed by Graham Wheeler, and it is still in my collection all these years later.
